What started out as a love for scented candles, and a passion for taking care of mother earth has grown into SUMA HOME.- a sustainable & eco- friendly company specialising in soy wax candles.

On our first ever #MiMoTalks, we chat with Summer. She's the owner and one- woman show behind Suma Home. Read on to learn about her journey as a millennial business owner.

MiMo: why did you start your business? 

SUMMER: Since the pandemic happened, I’ve been thinking of ways to stay busy. I've always had a love for scented candles and healthy living, and I decided MAKING an eco-friendly alternative for paraffin wax candles would be perfect.

MiMo: how much did you need to get it going?

SUMMER: I put probably Php 5k-7k at the start. It took about 2 weeks to get that back because of strong support from friends and family.

MiMo: what does a good day look like to you?

SUMMER: My best days are when I take down orders and receive good feedback after shipment. When customers make an effort to message me and say how much they love the product, it really makes my day.

MiMo: favourite thing about your business?

SUMMER: it’s personal. From the design, feed, customer service, and to the actual making of candles, I do it all myself. It is a work in progress. Everyday I learn something new and think of ways to improve the product to keep customers satisfied.

MiMo: Any advice to others wanting to start a business of their own?

SUMMER: Go for it!There will be struggles, but every step is a learning process and it will make you better in so many ways. Your friends, family, & EVEN strangers will support you. your hard work & effort will be recognized. it’s the best feeling ever.
